The Leadership Schenectady program, established in 1988 is designed to develop the leadership resources available in
Schenectady County. About 20 participants graduate from Leadership Schenectady each year.
The program was established to:
Broaden knowledge of community operations through interactive discussions with leaders and experiences in the community.
Explore issues impacting our community.
Explore Schenectady’s role as a part of the Capital Region.
Develop a network of community contacts among classmates and with visiting speakers.
Encourage community involvement and volunteerism, and identify opportunities for personal involvement.
Strengthen skills in leadership, group dynamics, team building and decision making to
develop awareness of personal leadership qualities.
The class meets from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every other Tuesday, from January until June.
