Tomorrow’s Leaders Today
The Region’s young professionals council, is dedicated to promoting the region’s economic vitality through the attraction and retention of young professionals and business leaders throughout Tech Valley. The council’s various programs seek to groom the next generation of Tech Valley leaders, provide a forum for young professionals to expand their business and social networks and serve as a sounding board for regional economic development issues.
Educational and Networking Programs
Executives Unplugged This GenNEXT networking and speaker series offers the opportunity for Tech Valley’s young professionals to meet and engage regional executives in armchair discussions about the decisions that have shaped their lives and careers.
Networking Through its monthly Business-to-Business Exchanges, the Chamber encourages GenNEXT young professionals to participate in evening networking events at establishments throughout the region. Our goal is also to offer additional programs that will be of value to council members and provide venues for young professionals to meet each other, as well as key business and community leaders.
GenNEXT Mentorship Program This program connects ambitious GenNEXT young professionals with seasoned, high-level regional executives charged with supporting them in their career and personal development. The logistics are simple: GenNEXT mentors will be matched with a young professional and asked to meet with their mentees a minimum of six times during the course of one year (at least three of the meetings should take place at a GenNEXT or Chamber-sponsored event). Mentors are charged with guiding GenNEXT council members in establishing a professional network based on their own past and present business experience and savvy.
Student Mentorship Program This program connects area young professionals with local college and university juniors interested in pursuing a career in Tech Valley. By matching the region’s emerging leaders with some of its best and brightest students, the mentorship program plays a key role in encouraging tomorrow’s graduates to think of Tech Valley first as the place to live, work and play.
Membership in GenNEXT is open to Chamber members between the ages of 23 to 40.
