In support of the Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council mission we wish to recognize individuals and organizations for exemplary contributions to the vitality of our community.
 
Nominations are now being taken for the 2006 Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council Awards.

Our 2nd Annual Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council Awards Luncheon will be November 9, 2006 at Glens Sanders Mansion where we will honor these individuals and organizations for their exemplary contributions to the vitality of our community.

 
AWARD CATEGORIESS
 
Nonprofit Board Service

Recognizes an individual Nonprofit Board Member or entire Board who:
  • Is a member of the Albany-Colonie and/or Schenectady Chambers of Commerce.
  • Demonstrates effective nonprofit governance practices (i.e. demonstrates exceptional ability and dedication in actualizing the mission of the organization, excels in attracting new resources to the organization).
  • Exemplifies ethical voluntary leadership.
  • Creates a positive Board culture that is reflective of the organization’s values.

Corporate Partner

Recognizes a for-profit organization that has successfully built partnerships with the nonprofit sector that:

  • Is a member of the Albany-Colonie and/or Schenectady Chambers of Commerce.
  • Demonstrates visionary leadership in improving the community through collaboration and support of nonprofit organizations.
  • Has contributed significantly to the quality of life in the Tech Valley community through professional and civic activities or involvement.

Nonprofit Executive Leadership

This award reflects the admiration of the recipient’s peers and recognizes a Nonprofit Executive who:

  • Is a member of the Albany-Colonie and/or Schenectady Chambers of Commerce.
  • Exemplifies the knowledge, skills and leadership necessary for effective nonprofit management.
  • Embraces best practices.
  • Takes an active leadership role in creating and/or supporting the development of Tech Valley.
  • This nomination must be endorsed by the board.
  • Answers should differentiate the accomplishments of the individual from accomplishments of the organization.

Nonprofit Organization

Recognizes a Nonprofit organization that:

  • Is a member of the Albany-Colonie and/or Schenectady Chambers of Commerce.
  • Effectively collaborates and/or partners with various sectors and/or other nonprofit organizations in the community.
  • Consistently demonstrates ethical management practices, effective service outcomes, creates an empowering family-friendly work environment.

The Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council – a joint initiative of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and The Chamber of Schenectady County – collaborates with the business community to enrich quality of life, create a healthy and robust economy, engage the public in advancing nonprofit missions and increase public appreciation for the role nonprofits have in the development of Tech Valley.

 
The Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council provides a forum for nonprofit, member businesses to learn from and support each other, to address common issues and opportunities, to develop a unified voice for public and political relations, to educate Chamber members and the public regarding nonprofits and to attract the support of Chamber members for nonprofit missions.
 
The goal is for the Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council to become “the voice of nonprofit business in Tech Valley,” and to attract all current and future nonprofit Chamber members to participate.
