New 10,000 Square Foot Building Headed for Fast Growing Broadway Corridor
Highbridge Development plans to construct a new 10,000 square foot mixed-use office and retail building in downtown Schenectady. Plans for the new building will be presented to the City Planning Commission for preliminary review. more
Upper Union St. Group Unveils New Logo
Mayor Stratton recently unveiled the new stylish logo for the City of Schenectady’s Upper Union Street Business Improvement District. more
DSIC Appoints New Executive Director
The Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation has appointed Robert Buccieri as the new Executive Director for the organization. After reviewing many candidates and applicants, the board selected Mr. Buccieri “because of his strong background in communications, retail and business marketing and community relations”, said Karen Zalewski-Wildzunas, President of the board of directors for the DSIC. more
Spiral Design Selected as New Web Provider for Chamber
The Chamber of Schenectady County has recently contracted with Spiral Design an Albany based firm to provide web hosting and design services to the Chamber. Spiral Design was one of several companies that bid on the Chamber web site project. more
Col. Della Pia Set to Step Down Col. Max Della Pia will soon step down as Commander of the 109th Airlift Wing. Col. Della Pia has had a long an illustrious career in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. more

THE WATERS ARE RECEDING FOR CANALFEST 2006
Please join us in support of this event – an event that will help to highlight some of the wonderful attractions and venues located in Schenectady and Montgomery Counties while having a $1 Million dollar impact on our local economy. 55,000 of the tabs will be distributed (full circulation in the Gazette and at the event.) 25,000 people attended the event in 2005 and we expect higher numbers this year..
Canalfest will take place at six unique locations along the Erie Canal:
Schectady’s Historic Stockade District; Freedom Park, Scotia; Maalwyck Park, Glenville; Mabee Farm Historic Site, Rotterdam; Riverlink Park in Amsterdam, Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site, Fort Hunter;
The six event sites will host an array of activities including:
Live musical performances, musical workshops, and cultural dance performances. Native American exhibits, archaeology demonstrations, blacksmith, quilters, candle makers, historic artisans, wagon rides, and tours of historic buildings along the Canal. Canal Boat Tours, Water Activities including Boat Rides, Kayak lessons, Water Ski Show, Boat Parade, Canal Boats, Historic Boats, and boater safety. Children’s activities, tethered hot-air balloon ride, Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, AND OF COURSE – FIREWORKS!!
