The Schenectady County Community Business Center is the county’s newest business incubator, marking its second year of operation during August 2002. The center, made possible with $1.2 million in funds appropriated by the Schenectady County Legislature, provides a full range of small business assistance services to its tenants as well as to other businesses not actually located in the center that could also benefit from the services. The center has 20,000 square feet of space for lease. As of August 2001, there were three tenants and a branch of the State Employees Federal Credit Union housed in the center.

Services provided by the center include:
Business and technical assistance through a combination of in-house expertise, mentoring and a network of community support, including accounting, marketing, business plans, human resources and payroll.
Shared services such as telephone, answering service, bookkeeping, fax, copier, business library, computer system and Internet services.
Financial assistance through a micro-enterprise program, small business loan program and links with other revolving loan funds, banks and other lending institutions.
Peer network and mentoring system to assist entrepreneurs and start-up companies that are struggling with business issues.
Flexible space and leases in a technology friendly facility that responds to the always changing needs of new businesses as they grow.
Entrepreneur training services in areas such as starting a business, developing investor forums, negotiations, software applications, legal issues, patents, engineering, cash flow and real estate issues.
